Following the sad death of club legend Sir Tom Finney at the age of 91, Preston North End’s club historian Ian Rigby joined the WAGU boys in February 2014.
‘The Preston Plumber’ was widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the Football League, and spent his entire career at Deepdale. Finney also played 76 times for England, scoring 30 goals – featuring at the 1950, 1954 and 1958 World Cups.
Ian reflects on Sir Tom’s incredible life and career – plus explains a bit more about what made him so deeply loved by football fans around the world. Ian is also the chairman of the Preston North End Former Players Association.
