Episode 73 – York sack Gary Mills

Gary Mills

York City took a few by surprise on Saturday when they announced the dismissal of manager Gary Mills following a run of eleven games without a win in League Two. It came less than a year after Mills had led the Minstermen back to the Football League – and won the FA Trophy. We speak to York fan and football blogger John Dobson (who’s written for the Two Unfortunates amongst others) about his shock at the decision.

We also reflect on the departure this week of the Football League’s longest serving manager. After nine years in charge, John Still left Dagenham & Redbridge for the final time on Tuesday, and has taken over at Luton in the Blue Square Bet Premier. Still led the Daggers to promotion to the Football League in 2007 – and won the League Two play-offs in 2010. Colin Munford, sports reporter at the Barking & Dagenham Post, is on the line to reflect on his tenure.

We also look back on a busy seven days of action, and try our best to describe Kevin Ellison’s goal for Morecambe against Rochdale…
