Episode 72 – Middlesbrough on the slide

This week the boys (obviously) start by looking back at a very one-sided Capital One Cup Final at Wembley. DC went to the game, which ultimately proved to be one step too far for Phil Parkinson and his Bradford side, as they were hammered 5-0 by Premier League Swansea. We pay tribute to their Cup exploits this season and ask – did Kevin Friend really need to send off Matt Duke?

In the Championship, Middlesbrough’s grip on a play-off place is fast slipping away after a seventh defeat in nine league games against Millwall on Saturday. Anthony Vickers, sports writer for the Evening Gazette on Teeside and author of the popular ‘Untypical Boro’ blog, is on the line to give his take on another season that seems to be drifting away.

In League Two, Aldershot may have won twice in a week to climb four points clear of the relegation zone, but they sacked manager Dean Holdsworth on Wednesday following a run of just seven points from seven games. We’re joined by Eagle Radio’s Shots Reporter Lewis Mason to hear more.

We also discuss Paolo Di Canio’s departure from Swindon, Simon Grayson’s arrival at Preston, a national TV humiliation for Mark’s club Bury – and the rest of the week’s action…
