Episode 35 – Advantage Reading

It was a massive weekend in the Championship promotion race as Reading came from behind to win 4-2 at West Ham and go four points clear of the Hammers in second place. We speak to Daniel Wimbush, editor of Reading fanzine ‘The Tilehurst End’ to get his view on the win, the run in, Brian McDermott and the secret behind the Royals’ success this season.

We also discuss the growing pressure on Sam Allardyce at Upton Park, plus the race for the Championship play-off spots. Sean Dyche’s Watford are now top of the form table and just six points off the top six, so we catch up with Mike Parkin from the Watford podcast ‘From The Rookery End’ to hear about new wonderkid Sean Murray – and their chances of springing a major surprise come the end of the season.

In League One the two Sheffield sides keep on winning, but perhaps only with a little help from the Preston squad. We look at the latest crisis to hit Graham Westley at Deepdale – and question whether he made the right call in making the issue public. In League Two we look back on ‘the battle of Valley Parade’ in midweek – while Macclesfield and Hereford continue to stare at life back in the Blue Square Premier.

We’ve all that plus Leeds against Colchester in the Allan Johnston Paint Trophy… and we’ll be back after the extended Easter weekend of fixtures next week.
