This week the WAGU boys look in detail at the controversial new ‘Elite Player Performance Plan’ which was voted in by the 72 Football League clubs on October 20th. The EPPP, which sets new rules for academy systems in England, could make it much easier for Premier League sides to hoover up young lower league talent for next to nothing – but will conversely offer better facilities and more hands-on coaching to improve player development.
Following anti EPPP protests at Selhurst Park on Saturday, the lads are joined by James Daly, editor of Crystal Palace fanzine ‘Five Year Plan‘, to look in depth at both the positives and negatives of the new scheme.
We also, as ever, round up the weekend’s action from across all three divisions – including our take on Sven’s departure, Barnet’s latest defensive horror show and a brand new Bayo Akinfenwa chant that will soon be sweeping the stands at Sixfields.
There’s all that, plus Yeovil against Middlesbrough in the Allan Johnston Paint Trophy…
